Structural visits are usually performed as a walk-through of the building lasting approximately one hour for a single home, but will increase time and scope for larger structures. It may relate to a client’s one specific structural concern or to the entire structure. These visits are based on our observations and check.
A report will be written accompanied with illustrated pictures of the specific or typical structural concerns indicating our observations and recommendations following the visit.
Example: A visit in the Greater Boston area lasting one hour involves three hours of our time (including travel, amount of time spent at the site, and report).
Visits could be contracted for:
A Potential Buyer of a home or commercial building:
· Investigate structural problems by giving an idea how these problems could be resolved.
· Recommend a specialized contractor in this type of work.
· If the building is purchased, we can then provide the new owner with the necessary structural plans to address these conditions.
For seller of a home or commercial building:
· Give an idea during an initial structural visit how to resolve a problem. (see above)
· Design and draw the required structural plans and details for the repair.
· We could recommend a specialized contractor who could implement the structural repair.
· Once the work is being performed, the structural engineer can then supervise the work.
· Once completed, we will write a letter to inform the client that the structural problems or concerns have been resolved.
Structural visit of recently built existing homes, multi-family dwellings or offices.
The structural engineer will observe an existing structure when there are concerns about improper construction of the structure or its foundations.
We will provide our educated opinion on the construction drawings and/or the construction of the structure.
If needed, we can help you design and execute the necessary structural plans, and if required; we can help as an expert witness.
